Agentic Electronic Design Automation: A Handoff Perspective
A new survey paper published on arXiv introduces the concept of "handoff validity" as a framework for understanding how Large Language Model (LLM)-based agents interact with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. The paper categorizes existing systems into Stage-Bound, Flow-Bound, and Organization-Bound classes based on their ability to maintain validity across different boundaries. It proposes a five-layer EDA agent communication protocol (EACP) to foster trustworthy agentic EDA and outlines an agenda for future research in this domain. AI
