World's First Nuclear Clocks Developed Using Thorium-229

By PulseAugur Editorial · [1 sources] ·

Scientists in China and Europe have successfully developed the world's first functional nuclear clocks, utilizing Thorium-229. These clocks measure transitions within the atomic nucleus, offering greater resilience to environmental interference compared to traditional atomic clocks. While current prototypes do not yet exceed the accuracy of optical atomic clocks, they validate the technology's potential for future advancements in timekeeping, fundamental physics research, and navigation systems.
