New dataset OPRD-Imp aims to improve AI prediction of pharmaceutical synthesis impurities

Researchers have introduced OPRD-Imp, a new dataset designed to address the scarcity of data for predicting reaction impurities in pharmaceutical synthesis. This dataset comprises 229 organic reactions from 62 publications in Organic Process Research & Development, meticulously annotated with 784 experimentally observed impurities and their mechanistic origins. The data, extracted and validated by chemists, is formatted using reaction SMILES and impurity SMILES strings, preserving multi-step synthetic route connectivity. OPRD-Imp aims to provide a benchmark for evaluating machine learning models focused on impurity prediction. AI

IMPACT Provides a benchmark for AI models predicting impurities in pharmaceutical synthesis, potentially accelerating drug development.
