CardioLM: Multilingual LLMs for Cardiology Domain

Researchers have developed CardioLM, a suite of multilingual small language models specifically designed for cardiology domain tasks. The project includes CardioCCC, a corpus of translated and annotated case reports in six languages, and CardioNER, a named entity recognition model fine-tuned on this corpus. Multilingual joint training proved more effective than specialty-specific pretraining for improving performance across languages, with CardioNER significantly outperforming baseline methods in clinical utility.
