Lattice Deduction Transformer approximates logical deduction with high accuracy

Researchers have developed a new recurrent transformer model called the Lattice Deduction Transformer (LDT) that approximates logical deduction. This model projects its latent state through a lattice between forward passes and is trained on-policy, supervised by an abstract interpretation of solution candidates. An 800K-parameter LDT variant demonstrated superior performance on Sudoku-Extreme puzzles, solving 99.999% with significantly fewer training FLOPs than previous models, and maintained high soundness. A larger 1.8M-parameter LDT achieved 99.8% accuracy on Maze-Hard puzzles. AI
