Archive of Our Own suffers security incident outage, impacting fanfiction community

By PulseAugur Editorial · [1 sources] ·

The fanfiction platform Archive of Our Own (AO3) is experiencing an extended outage due to a security incident, with restoration expected to take several weeks. This downtime has caused distress among writers and readers, particularly impacting events like Kinktober. While some users are exploring alternative platforms such as Sufficient Velocity and Space Battleship Yamato, many find these options inadequate due to discovery and continuity issues for long-form works. The incident highlights AO3's central role in the fanfiction community. AI
