Researchers have introduced DriveUniTok, a novel unified multimodal tokenizer designed for driving world-action models (WAMs). This approach encodes appearance, projected LiDAR depth, and ego motion into a single latent representation, addressing information loss and inconsistency issues found in separate-modality models. Experiments on the NAVSIM dataset showed that DriveUniWAM, which uses the frozen DriveUniTok and a pretrained diffusion model, achieved superior future prediction and planning performance with reduced computational costs compared to existing methods. After reinforcement learning, DriveUniWAM reached a PDMS of 91.54, setting a new state-of-the-art for WAM-based planners. AI
IMPACT This unified approach to multimodal data processing could lead to more efficient and effective AI systems for real-world applications like autonomous driving.
