New 4DMemoryBench benchmark tests AI's long-horizon spatiotemporal reasoning

Researchers have introduced 4DMemoryBench, a new benchmark designed to evaluate and improve the spatiotemporal reasoning capabilities of foundation models over long horizons. The benchmark includes the LongVideo dataset, featuring approximately 900 hours of video and over 5,000 questions, and the 4DMemory Harness, an integrated system combining specialized tool models and retrieval-augmented generation. Evaluations of 13 leading models showed significant performance drops on 4DMemoryBench compared to previous benchmarks, but the 4DMemory Harness improved all tested models by over 50% on long-horizon tasks. AI

IMPACT This benchmark could drive the development of AI agents capable of understanding and reasoning about complex, long-duration events.
