MoEZip: New KV Cache Compression for Sparse MoE LLMs

Researchers have developed MoEZip, a novel KV cache compression technique specifically designed for sparse Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) language models. Unlike existing methods that can degrade MoE performance by altering expert selection, MoEZip incorporates routing-aware scoring. This approach uses a metric based on the Fisher information matrix of routing distributions to estimate the sensitivity of expert selection to KV cache eviction. Experiments demonstrate that MoEZip significantly improves performance on benchmarks like LongBench and RULER under aggressive compression levels, outperforming previous state-of-the-art methods. AI

IMPACT Improves efficiency and performance of sparse MoE models during long-context inference.

MoEZip: Routing-Aware KV Cache Compression for Sparse Mixture-of-Experts LLMs

arXiv:2610.30206v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) language models scale model capacity efficiently by activating a small subset of parameters per token. However, in long-context inference, memory remains a major bottleneck because the KV cache grows linearl…
