SAKURA architecture enables private image editing on phones

Researchers have developed SAKURA, a cloud-edge architecture designed to efficiently serve attention key-value (KV) states for private image editing on mobile devices. This system addresses the challenge of storing large, reusable KV states by using a fine-grained, token-importance-aware compression method and adaptively selecting cache representations based on network bandwidth. SAKURA also incorporates a pipelined runtime to overlap cache transfer and reconstruction with on-device execution, significantly reducing latency and storage requirements while maintaining image quality. AI

IMPACT This system could improve the efficiency and privacy of on-device AI-powered image editing applications.
