GateSight optimizes LLM memory by predicting KV cache utility

Researchers have developed GateSight, a novel method to optimize the KV cache in hybrid Large Language Models (LLMs). GateSight uses lightweight MLPs to predict the future utility of KV entries based on signals from Gated DeltaNet layers, enabling query-agnostic eviction. This approach aims to reduce the significant memory footprint of attention KV caches without compromising accuracy. Experiments with Qwen3.8-27B and Qwen3.8-Flash-Next models demonstrated that GateSight achieves high accuracy with substantially less KV cache compared to other query-agnostic methods. AI

IMPACT This method could significantly reduce serving costs for LLMs by optimizing KV cache usage.

GateSight: Recurrent Memory Anticipates Attention Memory for Query-Agnostic KV Eviction in Hybrid LLMs

arXiv:2610.14754v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Hybrid language models interleave Gated DeltaNet (GDN) layers, whose recurrent memory has a fixed size, with full-attention layers, whose key-value (KV) cache grows with the context and dominates serving memory. In this paper, we as…
