MetaJoin framework improves heterogeneous table joins with adaptive selection

Researchers have developed MetaJoin, a novel framework designed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of joining heterogeneous tables. This label-free system adaptively selects the most appropriate join method by using input evidence to choose an initial specialist and then refining the selection based on the specialist's output. MetaJoin also introduces MNN Join, a specialist that identifies string transformations by maximizing mutual-nearest-neighbor coverage, outperforming existing transformation baselines. Evaluations on numerous datasets demonstrate MetaJoin's effectiveness, achieving a macro row-F1 score slightly above a benchmark-level oracle and significantly outperforming other label-free selection policies. AI

IMPACT Enhances data integration techniques, potentially improving the performance of AI models that rely on diverse data sources.

MetaJoin: Adaptive Join Selections for Heterogeneous Tables

arXiv:2512.02444v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Joining heterogeneous tables requires different forms of correspondence, including exact agreement, syntactic transformation, semantic similarity, and entity-level matching. The appropriate join method is often unknown in …
