Google DeepMind has launched WeatherNext 3, an advanced AI model for global weather forecasting. This new model significantly improves accuracy and resolution by learning directly from real-time satellite observations, bypassing traditional physics-based simulations and their inherent data lag. WeatherNext 3 generates hourly forecasts at a 5-kilometer resolution, a five-fold increase over its predecessor, and is being integrated into various Google products including Search, Gemini, and Maps.
