Fact check: Dr. Oz, Byron Donalds on vaccines and measles outbreak

By PulseAugur Editorial · [1 sources] ·

Dr. Mehmet Oz and Rep. Byron Donalds made several claims about vaccines on CBS's Face the Nation that require scientific clarification. While Dr. Oz correctly stated that the MMR vaccine is not lethal, his delayed response and framing around parental choice obscured its safety and effectiveness. He also inaccurately downplayed the necessity of the Hepatitis B vaccine for infants. Representative Donalds attributed the current measles outbreak to illegal immigration, but CDC data indicates that the vast majority of cases are among unvaccinated individuals within the U.S., highlighting declining vaccination rates as the primary driver.
