Twitter/X faces app store removal over CSAM failures · 1 source tracked

By PulseAugur Editorial · [1 sources] ·

Twitter/X faces a looming certainty of removal from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store due to its ongoing failure to adequately control child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Since Elon Musk's acquisition, the platform has significantly reduced its trust and safety teams and automated moderation systems, creating an environment where illegal content can flourish. Both Apple and Google have stringent policies against CSAM, with clear consequences for violations, and have previously removed apps like Parler and Tumblr for similar issues. Mounting legal pressure from legislation like the EARN IT Act and the UK's Online Safety Bill further increases the liability for platforms that do not address CSAM, potentially leading to catastrophic consequences for Twitter/X if removed from app stores.
