Researchers have developed PULSE, a novel system designed to proactively support cancer survivors by using LLM agents to analyze passive smartphone sensing data. This system aims to address the "diary paradox," where self-reports are unavailable when support is most needed. By comparing current behavior to personal baselines and retrieving historical cases, PULSE agents can identify moments of emotional distress and offer interventions. Evaluations show that the agentic multimodal approach achieved a balanced accuracy of 0.743 for emotion-regulation desire, suggesting a promising new direction for mental health support in survivorship care.
