Zed unveils DeltaDB for continuous, conversation-linked version control

By PulseAugur Editorial · [1 sources] ·

Zed has announced DeltaDB, a new version control system designed to capture work continuously as it is created. Unlike Git, which snapshots at commits, DeltaDB records every operation between commits as a "delta," linking edits directly to the conversations that prompted them. This system utilizes Conflict-free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs) to enable simultaneous editing by multiple users and agents, ensuring that code changes remain connected to their conversational context even as the code evolves. IMPACT This new version control system could streamline collaborative development by integrating conversational context directly with code changes, potentially impacting how AI agents interact with development workflows.
