Jellyfin Loses Project Lead and Core Team Amidst AI Disagreements

By PulseAugur Editorial · [1 sources] ·

Jellyfin, an open-source media server project, is facing significant leadership changes as its founder and project lead, Joshua Boniface, along with core team member Anthony Lavado, are departing. Boniface cited burnout as the primary reason for his exit, while Lavado pointed to personal changes. These departures follow closely behind another co-founder, Andrew Rabert, who left due to disagreements over the use of AI in development, which contrasts with Jellyfin's policy of using AI only as a supportive tool rather than a primary source of code. Despite these key personnel changes, the project aims for a smooth transition with experienced contributors continuing development. AI
