Films will no longer need to be submitted by a country to be eligible, and can instead qualify by winning a major award at select international film festivals. Additionally, the Academy has introduced new guidelines to address the use of AI in filmmaking, specifically stating that acting roles must be demonstrably performed by humans and screenplays must be human-authored to be eligible for awards.
