Articulatory strategy as a source of variation in acoustic vowel dynamics
Researchers have investigated the link between articulatory strategies and acoustic vowel dynamics, using ultrasound tongue imaging data from 36 English speakers. The study found that distinct tongue shapes during the production of the palatal vowel /i/ significantly predict formant dynamics in diphthongs.
