Systematic Evaluation of Novel View Synthesis for Video Place Recognition
Researchers have conducted a systematic evaluation of novel view synthesis techniques for Video Place Recognition (VPR). Their study, using five public VPR databases and seven image similarity methods, found that small additions of synthetic novel views can improve VPR recognition statistics. However, for larger additions, the number of views and dataset imagery type were more critical than the magnitude of viewpoint change. AI
