Translating Classical Poetry into Modern Prose
Researchers have developed Padyam2Gadyam, a new dataset designed for translating classical Telugu poetry into modern Telugu and English prose. The dataset contains 600 poems with human-verified translations, and it was used to evaluate the performance of five large language models on this translation task. Initial results show that current LLMs still have significant room for improvement in accurately translating poetry into prose for both languages. AI
