Windborne Systems has released WeatherMesh 6, an AI-powered weather forecasting model that reportedly surpasses the accuracy and frequency of predictions from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting (ECMWF). The startup, founded by Stanford students, leverages its own fleet of 400 weather balloons to gather unique data, which is then fed directly into its transformer-based AI model.
