Electromagnetic Navigation for Femoral Osteotomy Using High-Accuracy X-ray-to-CT Registration
Researchers have developed a new electromagnetic tracking (EMT)-based navigation system for femoral osteotomies, aiming to improve accuracy and reduce radiation exposure. The system integrates CT-based planning with a single-use C-arm calibration and X-ray-to-CT registration using just two fluoroscopic images. In a study with synthetic femora, the EMT guidance demonstrated superior angular accuracy compared to free-hand methods and matched the precision of patient-specific instrumentation without additional surgical exposure.
