Quality Perceptions and Intended Engagement in Response to AI-Generated and AI-Assisted News
A study involving 599 participants in German-speaking Switzerland found that audiences perceive AI-generated and AI-assisted news articles similarly to human-written ones in terms of quality, credibility, readability, and expertise. Upon disclosure of AI involvement, participants showed a temporary increase in their willingness to continue reading the articles, though this did not translate into a change in their long-term intentions to read AI-generated news.
