Evolutionary Algorithm for Reservoir Learning and Yielding
Researchers have developed EARLY, an evolutionary algorithm framework designed to optimize the architecture and hyperparameters of Echo State Networks (ESNs), a type of recurrent neural network used for temporal learning. By encoding network designs as graph-based genomes and applying evolutionary processes like crossover and mutation, EARLY aims to discover effective configurations for ESNs. Evaluations on the CogScale dataset demonstrated that EARLY-evolved architectures surpass those found through random search, with simpler tasks resulting in lighter networks and complex tasks favoring more modular structures.
