FBI dismantles Chinese phishing service that coached buyers to generate scam sites using AI —$88 cybercrime product linked to $1.9 billion in losses, 3.87 million stolen cards
The FBI, in collaboration with Google and Lumen Technologies, has dismantled a China-based phishing-as-a-service operation known as Outsider Enterprise. This operation, sold via a Telegram bot for as little as $88 per week, enabled users to create fake websites and was allegedly used to generate approximately $1.9 billion in losses and compromise 3.87 million stolen cards. Notably, the service provided tutorials instructing users on how to prompt Google's Gemini AI to generate the underlying code for these scam sites, bypassing safety filters by disguising prompts as requests for innocuous code.
