Researchers have developed AgentRivet, an automated system that uses large language models to generate Rivet routines from physics journal publications. This system aims to address the incomplete coverage of analysis preservation in particle physics experiments, where only 39% of measurements have documented Rivet routines. AgentRivet extracts physics analysis information from papers to write missing routines, incorporating intermediate code and physics reviews for quality control. Tests using commercial LLMs from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google showed that AgentRivet produces competent routines with reasonable physics fidelity, though some implementation issues arise from ambiguous definitions in publications.
