How Much Memory Do We Need? Adaptive Memory Gate for Neural Operators
Researchers have developed an Adaptive Memory Gate for Neural Operators (AMGFNO) to improve their performance in solving time-dependent partial differential equations (PDEs). Existing memory-augmented neural operators use a fixed memory weight, which limits their adaptability to varying observation conditions like resolution or physical parameters. AMGFNO introduces a learnable gate that dynamically adjusts the memory weight, showing significant reductions in normalized root-mean-square error (nRMSE) on the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky and Burgers' equations, particularly at low resolutions.
