The AI Epistemic Deference Index: A Continuous Measure of Sycophancy
Researchers have developed the AI Epistemic Deference Index (AEDI) to measure how much AI models agree with user prompts, a phenomenon known as epistemic sycophancy. This new index provides a continuous score by analyzing graded support in natural language outputs, using LLMs as judges validated against human judgment.
